OUR HISTORY

Get a Clue Productions first opened in 1995, performing at Michele’s Restaurant in Railroad Square in Santa Rosa, CA.  The owner, Dennis Parlett performed for 2 years for another murder mystery company and always believed that the quality of the shows could be much better.  Dennis decided to open his own production company and call it “Get a Clue”.  Sound effects, elaborate props, set dressing, and professional costuming were added to the show.  Holly Vinson wrote the first play “The Two Faced Murder” which was a soap opera spoof.  Audiences loved the changes and the shows were frequently sold out every week.

In the summer of 2000, Dennis created a new style of dinner theater called Suspicious Suppers which allows the audience to play the characters in the show all at one large table.  The first Suspicious Suppers show was co-written by Dennis and Holly and entitled “Holly Wood’s Will” which originally opened at Johnny Garlic’s in Santa Rosa.  That same year Get a Clue launched an improvisational theater troupe named The Clueless Comedy Company which performed in the style of the popular TV show Whose Line is It, Anyway.  It first opened at Johnny Garlic’s in Windsor.

Get A Clue Productions performed all three of its shows for hundreds of private parties over a 10 year period all over Sonoma, Napa, and Lake Counties.  They were very popular entertainment hired for holiday parties, birthdays, anniverseries, and cooperate team.  During the economic downturn that began in 2005 Get a Clue Productions closed.

Get a Clue has now reopened in June of 2015 and is performing weekly at Charlie’s Restaurant at the Windsor Golf Club.  Their first show will be “The Spy Who Killed Me” a secret agent comedy, opened in June of 2015.  Every 4 months Get a Clue Productions will open a new show for audiences to enjoy.

MEET THE TEAM
DENNIS PARLETT, owner / director / producer

Dennis Parlett began his theater interests at the early age of seven in 1979.  After performing with the Santa Rosa Players in his first show “Carousel” he was fascinated with all of the people and effort that it takes to produce a show.  He continued to be involved in every Jr. High and High school production including returning after graduation to assistant direct “Detective Story”.  After returning from college at UC Davis, Dennis assistant directed in several shows at SRP as well as serving on the board of directors at the age of 21.  In 1995 he bagan his own production company; Get a Clue Productions.   Dennis continued growing his production company for 10 years into three different forms of entertainment at 4 public locations in Sonoma County.  Get a Clue also performed hundreds of private parties in hotels, wineries, and restaurants.  His daughter Madison was born in 2000.  In 2005, the failing economy forced Dennis to close Get a Clue in order to support his family.  While assistant directing “Guys and Dolls” he met and eventually married his beautiful wife Kori.  He purchased Pristine Clean Carpet Cleaners in 2007 and has been the owner and sole operator ever since.  Their son Coleman was born in July of 2011.  In May of 2015, Dennis decided it was time for Get a Clue Productions to return to Sonoma County and sought out Charlie’s at the Windsor Golf Club to be its new location.  Never losing his love for entertaining audiences with his acting, directing, and designing shows, Dennis is thrilled to be producing his own shows once again.
